Stephan joined Carleton University in 2013 as the Canada Research Chair in Climate Change Impacts/Adaptation in Northern Canada and he is an Adjunct Professor at Yukon College. Previously, he worked at the University of Zurich (Switzerland) and the Université de Savoie (France). His education is in Physical Geography (Germany, Switzerland), Environmental Systems Analysis and Monitoring (the Netherlands), and Arctic Studies (Finland). Stephan’s research program quantifies and assesses permafrost thaw in Arctic and high-mountain environments and develops new methods for measurement and prediction.
