Pete joined NSERC PermafrostNet in 2023. A Garinagu (pl. Garifuna, indigenous of Belize), Pete is a year-round avid outdoorsman, nature lover, and photographer.
Soon after completing undergraduate studies in Geography and Biology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, he seized the opportunity to pursue a MSc through the Arctic Landscape Ecology Lab at University of Victoria.
He didn’t think twice about island hopping from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, camera in hand. Capturing the essence of wildlife in natural landscapes and G.I.S. are his passions, and his unique perspective, critical bent, and mapping skills will inform his problem-solving as he researches permafrost monitoring and degradation patterns.
