The NSERC PermafrostNet Annual General Meeting 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

NSERC PermafrostNet was pleased to invite the permafrost community to our fourth network Annual General Meeting (AGM) (see past program for 2020 AGM<\/a> et 2021 AGM<\/a>). The 2022 NSERC PermafrostNet Mid-Term AGM was held on Monday the 14th of November<\/strong> in Yellowknife<\/strong>. The AGM was hosted in conjunction with the  50th Yellowknife Geoscience forum<\/a>. The Geoscience forum included two days of permafrost talks and posters on the 15th and 16th of November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting schedule focused on the progress of the network projects, the synthesis of theme progress, publications, and future activities (to the end of the network and beyond), while providing the students and post-doctoral fellows with opportunity to share their work, interact with partners, co-investigators, members of the governing bodies and each other. The AGM also presented a fantastic opportunity to interact with members of our Board and partner organizations, as well as to attend the Yellowknife Geoscience Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening (6pm-8:30pm<\/strong>) we hosted an Open House<\/a><\/strong> so the public could come to the Tree of Peace Friendship Centre<\/a> (5011 51 St, Yellowknife, NT X1A 1S5) to find out more about the thawing permafrost and meet the researchers studying it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Geoscience forum featured two permafrost specific technical sessions: Changing Permafrost Landscapes, and Permafrost Monitoring Networks co-chaired by network members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Network members gave talks and presented posters at the Geoscience forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When was it?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The NSERC PermafrostNet Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on lundi<\/strong> 14<\/strong> novembre <\/strong>2022 in Yellowknife, NT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where was it?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The event was held at the Tree of Peace Friendship Centre<\/a> in Yellowknife, NT. The mandate of the Tree of Peace is the encouragement of cross-cultural understanding and awareness between Dene, Metis, Inuvialuit, and non-aboriginals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who was the AGM for?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

All NSERC PermafrostNet members and affiliates were invited to participate during the day and in the evening the event was opened up for a public Open House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What sort of sessions and activities did the AGM have?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The event featured research presentations, interactive activities, poster presentations and breakout sessions to promote networking and group discussions between members of the Canadian permafrost community and the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who organized this event?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The event was hosted by NSERC PermafrostNet. The Geoscience forum was hosted by the NWT and Nunavut Chamber of Mines in partnership with the NWT Geological Survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
