Le perg\u00e9lisol est pr\u00e9sent sous plus du tiers des terres du Canada et le r\u00e9chauffement plan\u00e9taire modifiera radicalement ce milieu. La fonte du perg\u00e9lisol a un impact direct sur la vie des r\u00e9sidents du Nord, dans la mesure o\u00f9 elle menace la s\u00e9curit\u00e9, la fiabilit\u00e9 et le co\u00fbt de l\u2019infrastructure. La qualit\u00e9 de vie dans les r\u00e9gions septentrionales en sera alt\u00e9r\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSERC Permafrost Partnership Network for Canada (NSERC PermafrostNet) united researchers from 12 universities, with partners in government agencies, industry and Indigenous communities, who share the common goal of boosting Canada\u2019s ability to monitor, predict and adapt to large-scale permafrost thaw&nbsp;and its consequences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The network aimed to understand the interactions between climate, permafrost and infrastructure by involving knowledge holders across complementary domains, while also connecting small-scale findings from field sites with national-scale prediction.
