Martine holds a PhD in oceanography from Université Laval and has engaged in Arctic research through several Polar-related entities such as Québec-Océan, Takuvik, ArcticNet, NETCARE, SOLAS, Sentinel North, and Nunataryuk.
In the past 15 years, she has explored marine microbial life, aka the “bug hub”, its sensitivity to environmental stressors, and its role in climate regulation through research in global oceanic waters, including those surrounding the four regions of the Inuit Nunangat.
Her genuine passion for science, literacy, outreach, and knowledge transfer has led her to participate in over 20 expeditions across the globe, in cooperative in-the-field training, as well as in the mentorship of students, in the field, in the lab, and in classrooms.
Her current position as ArcticNet’s Training and Knowledge Mobilization coordinator aligns with her vision and hopes to catalyze the movement of knowledge from labs, research journals and academic conferences into the hands of people and organizations who will benefit from it and put it to practical use.
