Galina is a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Professor Stephan Gruber at Carleton University.
She recently completed an integrated Master’s degree in Engineering and ICT (Geoinformatics) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Galina’s role within NSERC PermafrostNet includes producing and evaluating permafrost data products for the recent past and for future climate scenarios. The products are intended to be useful for a broad range of stakeholders and aim to inform future climate services provided in Canada. During an exchange to the Technical University of Denmark, she had the chance to spend a semester in Sisimiut, Greenland, which amplified her passion and appreciation for the Arctic into a motivated understanding of research in the cryosphere and its potential impact on humanity’s response to climate change.
