Gabriel recently completed a master’s of science in engineering under the supervision of Dr. Mehdi Pouragha and Dr. Stephan Gruber at Carleton University. He previously completed a BSc in civil engineering at Carleton.

The master’s thesis focuses on the mechanical modeling of ice wedge formation using the extended finite element method (XFEM) and the effects of environmental factors on thermal contraction cracking. Gabriel continues to further this project as a research assistant, improving and applying the model to new scenarios.
