Victor Pozsgay is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Carleton University, working in Stephan Gruber’s permafrost group. He completed a PhD in theoretical cosmology at Imperial College London (UK) and is now living in Ottawa and working at Carleton University.

After his PhD, Victor realized he needed a new challenge. Coming from the French Alps and being a passionate big mountain enthusiast, he wanted to contribute to a scientific area that intersects climate change and mountain studies. Victor is now studying slope failures in permafrost areas, especially in Northern British Columbia and the Yukon. His work allows him to conduct fieldwork to gather essential data that he can use to compare with his permafrost simulations, thus combining his love of the great outdoors, numbers and analytical work.

Due to his unconventional academic background, Victor brings a fresh and novel view of the permafrost world and hopes this will help to understand permafrost landslides better.
