Alex Chiasson

Alexandre completed his undergraduate studies in geography at Université Laval, Québec. He completed his master’s thesis in geography at Université Laval in 2019 under Michel Allard’s supervision. His research focussed on the thermal contraction crack polygons distribution and activities in Nunavik. He won the geography awards at Laval for getting the best GPA during his studies. After that, he was hired as an associate researcher at Université Laval’s Centre d’études nordiques (Center for Northern Studies) to work on mapping permafrost conditions in Nunavik communities under the supervision of Dr. Michel Allard. He began his PhD at University of Alberta under the supervision of Dr. Duane Froese in the Fall 2020. His PhD aims to better understand the ground-ice conditions along the proposed Mackenzie valley Highway (MVH) right-of-way in the Northwest Territories.
