Charles completed his undergraduate studies in physics at Université de Montréal. He is now pursuing his MSc under the supervision of Dr. Oliver Sonnentag (Université de Montréal) and Dr. Joe Melton (Environment and Climate Change Canada). His research aims to reduce uncertainty in predicted soil carbon dynamics using the Canadian Land Surface Scheme including Biogeochemical Cycles model (CLASSIC, Melton et al. 2019). CLASSIC, being a process-based model, relies on several parameter values which cannot be obtained from observations. The goal of Charles’ research will be to use Bayesian techniques as well as multiple data streams in order to find the optimal parameter values which should reduce uncertainty in simulated soil carbon dynamics.
